Bikram Barman is a doctoral researcher jointly affiliated with the Department of Human Geography and Planning at Utrecht University, the Netherlands and the Institute for Social and Economic Change in Bengaluru, India.
His research interests span population studies, social policy, and development economics, with a focus on ageing, health, inequalities, poverty, and the political economy of welfare.
His academic training includes a Master’s degree in Population Studies from the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai, and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Guwahati. He has been awarded multiple fellowships, including from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the University of Michigan, and has qualified the UGC-NET for Assistant Professorship.
